Why this exists
When a Prius throws a triangle, the internet offers two bad meals: a vendor blog that already knows you need their $1,800 install, or a PriusChat thread that is brilliant and also 14 years long. I wanted a third thing — a short, sour, sourced decision guide.
The intended home is priusbatteryguide.com. That domain is not purchased as part of building this site. Until it is, treat the published URL in metadata as the target, not a claim that DNS already points here.
What I will and will not do
- Cite public price lists and warranty pages, dated 30 August 2026.
- Keep the 12-volt and the HV pack on separate sides of the page.
- Label paid versus unpaid links next to the recommendation.
- Not publish HV removal or install steps. Orange cables can kill.
- Not impersonate Toyota, Green Bean, NexPower, or a dealer.
- Not invent testimonials, install photos, search volumes, or prices.
- Not stuff Honda, Ford, or RAV4 batteries into a Prius site. Camry, maybe later.
How a number gets on a page
It was on a public vendor page or a named estimator on 30 August 2026, and it is stored in src/content/prices.ts so it can be edited without rewriting essays. If I cannot source it, the page says unknown.
Affiliate placeholders live in src/config/site.ts. Until those strings change, “paid” links are public homepages wearing an honest label.
